After getting bombarded with a batch of images of Andre laying tracks all over the central coast recently, we figured it’d be a good time to check in with him to see what’s been going on in his neck of the woods. He’s certainly been scoring plenty of good waves, but as it turns out the surf missions are just the tip of the iceberg. The man has had a full plate lately to say the least, and in his usual fashion he’s humbly flowing through it all with an unassuming grin. Andre’s lovely wife recently gave birth to the couple’s second son, Ben, and the fiesty young lads are keeping their dad on his toes. In addition to raising a young family, Andre has been putting his years of competitive surfing experience to good use as a commentator on the portuguese broadcast team for ASP World Tour Events such as the Hurley Pro at Trestles and the upcoming Nike Lowers Pro this May. Apparently, having box seats watching the world’s best surfers trying to outdo one another keeps Andre plenty inspired. He’s been on fire in the water lately, and is currently working on several projects for various publications both here in the U.S. as well as in Brazil. Amidst his hectic schedule, there’s still nothing Andre loves more than the life he has carved out for himself in his adopted home of California: spending time with his family, teaching Yoga, and seeking out a few barrels and carves when the conditions come together. Here’s a few clicks from a recent run of playful surf…
